Basic parameters of internal combustion engines

Displacement

First look at the most common engine parameter -engine displacement. The engine displacement is the sum of the operating volume of each cylinder of the engine, which is generally represented by liters (L). The operating volume of the cylinder refers to the gas volume swept by the piston from the top to the lower point, also known as a single cylinder displacement, depending on the cycle diameter and the piston itinerary. The engine displacement is a very important engine parameter. It can more represent the size of the engine than the cylinder diameter and the number of cylinders. Many indicators of the engine are closely related to the exhaust volume. Generally speaking, the greater the displacement, the greater the output power of the engine.

Know the displacement and look at other common parameters of the engine. Many primary riders report that they often see the words "L4", "V6", "V8", "W12" and other words in the engine column of car data. They want to understand what it means. These all represent the arrangement of the engine cylinder and the number of cylinders. The number of common cylinders in car engines include 3 cylinders, 4 -cylinder, 6 -cylinder, 8 -cylinder, 10 -cylinder, 12 -cylinder, etc.
